How we work

Editorial standards.

The Catholic Gwei is a small, independent publication. These are the habits we use to make its arguments more honest, useful, and accountable.

Independent editorial judgment

Petrus Fidelis is responsible for the publication's editorial direction and final decisions. Essays are developed through editorial self-review, including rereading, cross-essay consistency checks, and a deliberate pass for the strongest objections to the argument.

This self-review is not peer review. The Catholic Gwei does not represent its essays as having been independently reviewed by academic peers, a review board, or a magisterial authority. Publication is not doctrinal approval, ecclesial endorsement, or a substitute for the teaching office of the Church. Arguments are offered for consideration and conversation.

Sources and claims

Essays distinguish interpretation, argument, and factual claims as carefully as possible. When a source materially shapes an essay, we identify it in the source notes and link to the most direct, stable source available. We prefer primary texts, original research, official records, and accountable reporting; secondary sources are used with attention to their context and limits.

Links and references are part of an essay's trail, not a guarantee that every source agrees with the essay. We welcome good-faith challenges to evidence, attribution, framing, and conclusions.

Corrections and updates

If you find a factual error, broken attribution, misleading link, or meaningful omission, please email contact@thecatholicgwei.com with the essay title, the relevant passage, and a source or explanation where possible. We review reports, correct material errors clearly, and may add an editorial revision note when an essay's reasoning or qualifications materially change.

A disagreement with an essay's judgment is not, by itself, a correction. We still welcome serious disagreement: it helps us identify where an argument needs sharper terms or a better account of its limits.
